No thing is incurable

This week a package arrived at the house for one of the gentlemen in the ministry. His name is Daniel. He's from Nigeria. The package was from Nigeria (The "America" of Africa) and it said that it contained "natural herbs". I'm thinking Daniel's family sent him some seasonings or some special tea. Daniel just dropped by to pick it up and when I gave it to him he said that the herbs are for his diabetes. He said when he told his family that he was diabetic, they said not to worry. They would send him the right herb to take it away. He told me that in Africa they believe that no sickness is incurable and that there's always something that can be taken. The Spanish doctor told him it's incurable and it's a lifetime of coping with being diabetic, but Daniel is confident that won't be the case for him.

I felt compelled to tell you all this little story. I'm positive there's some sort of lesson in there, some spiritual truth, some deep insight. It's early though and my cup of coffee is only half gone. Any thoughts??

There might be something spiritual about it...but you might want to let Daniel know that he needs insulin, not herbs! If not, he might end up in a diabetic coma or severely infected! Okay..that is the psycho nurse coming out in me! I should cut back on the coffee! Love you!

Isn't the lesson that so often we think there are many truths and we are confident in the truth we have chosen. But ultimately, in the end we will realize that there is only one truth. If we go for another truth it could cost us our life....or worse yet, our eternity.

I'm just stabbing at something,

Wow! It got busy here at work and I missed several of your blogs - but I'm caught up now.

Regarding Daniel and his diabetes - I like what Ryan said about everyone wanting to trust in their own truth. But spiritually we know that there is only ONE truth - ONE way to God - through Jesus.

II Timothy 4:3-4 says: "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths."

That could be what spiritual truth you're looking for in this instance, Lisa.

BTW - It was great to see and hear you read scripture in worship yesterday. That was fun! I hope you can videotape a short report or something that can be shown in the near future.

Take care, dear friend!

Love ya!
